Transport & Accommodation

The most practical and ecological way to come to Montreux during the Festival is to use public transportation.

TRAINS

SBB

Travel smart by favoring public transportation!

During the Festival, the SBB’s offer is extending by increasing the number of regular trains and offering special trains.

New: 2 additional runs to Vevey and Lausanne have been added during the week and 4 at weekends. 2 new runs to Aigle and Saint Maurice have also been added at weekends.

  • As a general rule, you will find free seats in the compartments at the ends of the train.
  • Due to the sometimes late end of the concerts, it is not always possible to reach all regions and connections by public transport. Please inform yourself before the Festival about the different connections.

Cable car Territet-Glion

On all Festival nights, 4 additional runs are scheduled between 1am and 3am.

BUS

VMCV

The free VMCV (Vevey-Montreux-Chillon-Villeneuve) bus service on the reinforced routes 201 and 204 is once again offered from 6pm onwards during the week and from 2pm onwards at the weekend; moreover, the service is extended until 4 am on weekdays and 5am during the weekend.

For the surrounding areas, the “Night Bus N291”, also accessible free of charge during the festival, operates every evening.

These services are kindly offered by the Montreux Municipality.

BIKES

For the period of the festival, parking lots with 220 spaces for bicycles are located along the Grand-Rue, in front of the Montreux Palace and on the descent of Beaulieu (Hôtel Mona).

MOTORCYCLES

Additional parking for motorised two-wheelers is available on rue du Lac, at Montreux train station and rue du Théâtre (next to the Casino).

COVOITURING

Festival car-sharing is an increasingly popular practice that combines economy, ecology and conviviality. By sharing a vehicle, festival-goers reduce not only their transport costs, but also their carbon footprint. This approach facilitates your arrival on site.

CARS

The Montreux Jazz Festival strongly recommends that you use public transport. Attention, limited parking on site!

As soon as they leave the motorway, motorists are redirected via road signs to the car parks available in Montreux, Villeneuve and La Tour-de-Peilz. Real-time information is broadcast on Cartoriviera and on the illuminated signs at the entrances to the town.

Important information: Illegal parking is strictly forbidden. Even if it doesn’t seem to be a problem, it can hinder the passage of emergency services or technical services.

Please note: for safety reasons, the Grand-Rue will be closed to private motorised traffic every evening of the Festival between 17:00 and 02:00.

PARKING OF COACHES

There are no special parking spaces apart from those in the town centre along Grande-Rue. It is possible to park at Chillon (after Montreux, in the direction of Villeneuve).

LIMOUSINE SERVICE

For all your transport needs during the Montreux Jazz Festival, take advantage of a chauffeur-driven limousine service through our official partner First Class Limousine Service. Take advantage of preferential rates with our Mercedes S-Class limousines (2-3 seats) or Mercedes V-Class minivans (4-7 seats).

ACCOMMODATION

Where can I stay during the Festival?

Online room reservation: as a legacy of being a sought-after holiday destination for the British at the turn of the last Century, Montreux Riviera has a wealth of accommodation options. Nevertheless demand during the Festival is very high and you are strongly advised to make your arrangements early enough to ensure your place in the “Swiss Riviera” sun.
